3 Tips to Leave Your Comfort Zone

As creatures of comfort, we like security, safety and serenity. However, if we are brave enough to break free from the shackles of familiarity, who knows what lies ahead!

As the year beckons to an end, take time and reflect on your accomplishments, along with your failures. Why failures, well without those little mishaps you learn nothing. EMBRACE failures as they allow deviation into paths never before imagined.

Remember, the most important part is the JOURNEY, not the destination.

In the coming months, strive to move away from your comfort zone and into your effort zone, this is where the REAL magic happens. Make a list of 5 things you what to accomplish and go hell for leather trying to make it happen!

As Roy T Bennett said:

"The comfort zone is a psychological state in which one feels familiar, safe, at ease, and secure. If you always do what is easy and choose the path of least resistance, you never step outside your comfort zone. Great things don’t come from comfort zones".

If you want to achieve GREAT things, you need to do GREAT things!

It doesn't have to be complicated or scary, however, should be enough to keep you motivated to succeed.

These are my TOP 3 TIPS to get your new year off to a flying start.

Eradicate Fear

This is the first and biggest hurdle you must surmount in order to move away from your existing thinking pattern. "I'm not good enough", "What happens if no one responds", "I'll look stupid", "They'll laugh at me", "It's a waste of time". If you're hearing these negative comments, then don't worry, it's natural. Replace them with positive affirmations, which will help you get going. Smile and imagine yourself completing the task and the feeling of accomplishment, euphoria and everyone saying WOW, that was awesome!

Challenging Enough

Make sure that what you're actually doing is going to enrich the existence of you and others and that it is challenging enough that you have to step outside of your comfort zone. Don't make the goals too easy or mundane like cut the grass every week, or make a triple decker sandwich. You could change the dynamics of the task, like cut the grass so it's featured in a magazine, or win a competition for the best manicured lawn in town. Even try and make the biggest sandwich possible, get publicity and then start a new sandwich chain like Sub Way. It all starts with a goal, then action and then and the rest is history!

Have Faith

If you fail, don't give up, don't ever give up. Edison failed 1000 times trying to invent the incandescent light bulb. However, in his eyes, he didn't fail, he just found 1000 ways it didn't work, or 1000 steps to making it work. J K Rowling is another example, after sending her manuscript to 12 different publishers and getting rejected by every single one, it was not until the 13th time that a publisher agreed to take on her Harry Potter idea. I bet all those other publishers are kicking themselves now! You will be faced with rejection and failure before you are successful. Don't lose faith, even if it is just to learn the Hot Shot cut or Pass, keep going!

So, on behalf of me (Vinny Sagoo) and Neo Magic, I wish you all the success for the coming year. Remember, change can occur at anytime, you don't have to wait for 1st of January to come around!
